Tiergarten is a very beautiful park in central Berlin, Germany. Notable for the great and homonymous urban park, before German reunification, it was a part of West Berlin. In the park a new system of road and rail tunnels runs under it towards Berlin's Central Station in nearby Moabit.
The park houses many parliamentary and governmental institutions, among others the Bundestag in the Reichstag building and the new German Chancellery. The residence of the German President, Schloss Bellevue and the Carillon are also located in the Tiergarten park.
The Tiergarten (animal park) and former hunting ground is Berlin’s best
known park because of its centrality it’s a favourite with locals and
visitors, wonderful for a stroll, a breath of fresh air, a picnic,
cycling or a jog or just kicking a ball around. Berliners make good use of the park for outdoor activities, sports and
football games and grilling on Sundays is very popular. A large
playground or Spielplatz is located on the southeastern corner near
Potsdamer Platz. Some winters it is even possible to skate on the small
lakes inside the park if weather conditions allow.
Το πάρκο Tiergarten είναι ένα από τα πιο όμορφα πάρκα του κεντρικού Βερολίνου, στη Γερμανία. Πριν γίνει πάρκο η περιοχή ήταν ιδανική για κυνήγι ενώ σήμερα είναι ένα από τα πιο γνώστα πάρκα του Βερολίνου λόγω του ότι βρίσκεται στο κέντρο της πόλης ενώ είναι φανταστικό για βόλτες στον καθαρό αέρα, για ποδήλατο, τρέξιμο και ποδόσφαρο.
Οι Βερολινέζοι συνηθίζουν να κάνουν στο πάρκο πικνίκ τις Κυριακές αλλά και να παίζουν με τα παιδιά τους στις παιδικές χαρές που υπάρχουν. Το χειμώνα που το πάρκο παγώνει από το χιόνι, μπορείς να κάνεις μέχρι και σκέιτ στις μικρές λίμνες που βρίσκονται εκεί, αν το επιτρέπει ο καιρός.
Το Tiergarten δεν ήταν από πάντα ανοιχτό για το κοινό. Παλαιότερα συνήθιζε να χρησιμοποιείται από τους ευγενείς οι οποίοι κυνηγούσαν μέσα σε αυτό. Ο βασιλιάς Friedrich I ήταν αυτός που το άνοιξε για όλο τον κόσμο.
